Basic Wildland Firefighting Course Registration

Sewanee, Tennessee

Where to meet: The University of the South, Snowden Hall Downstairs Reading Room, Check in at 0900. Class will begin at 1000.

What to bring: Note pads, pens, personal Nomex (if available), leather boots (preferably with Vibram soles).

What we will provide: Student workbooks, Incident Response Pocket Guide, job aids, supplemental PPE
for field exercises (to include Nomex for those unable to supply their own).

Costs: The course registration for the full course costs $50.00 and will  include a t-shirt. The cost for recertification is $25.00 and does not include a t-shirt. Extra shirts cost $10.00.

Expectations: This course is nationally recognized basic wildland fire training. Participants will be expected to
complete all aspects of the course and pass all tests to receive certificates of completion. Upon check-in, you
will be expected to bring your certifications from the pre-course work below (4 hrs total work). Dress
appropriately for each day. There will be field exercises Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, so be prepared to
work outdoors for extended periods. After Monday, we will start each day promptly at 0800. Failure to show up
on time or to complete all of the course requirements will result in withholding of certification.

Pre-course work: Please complete the following coursework before January 7th.

Logistics: For students with on-campus housing, dorm rooms will be open the afternoon of Monday January 7th.
Students arriving Sunday evening will need to find local lodging (see options below). Each student will be
responsible for their own food. Other participants that are not currently paying for housing will be responsible for
their own lodging (options below). The Forestry Cabin has also been reserved for the night of January 6th for anyone who needs lodging.
